SEUMCWe are a community of faith who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and in the power of the Holy Spirit to reach out to all people in the community and the world. We learn through searching God’s Word, seeking to grow in discipleship and to share God’s love with all people we meet.

As a community of faith blessed by God’s love, we affirm that the church is not a building, but rather a people who faithfully worship and serve the living God. We aim to reach out to other communities here and abroad to be in active mission in making disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

We are a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-generational community, affirming our strengths together, acknowledging our weakness, celebrating our diversity, encouraging inclusiveness, and opening our hearts, minds and doors to greater possibilities. We are disciples of Jesus making more disciples of Jesus.

Membership in the United Methodist Church is open to all baptized Christians. We do not limit our membership to those who subscribe to a particular creed. If you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, believe in the Christian faith as contained in the Scriptures, and intend to lead a Christian life, we invite you to become a member of our congregation. If you would like to know more about our United Methodist Church and its ministries, or if we can serve you in any way, please feel free to talk to one of our pastors.

SEUMC is proud to pay our fair share of mission support through the United Methodist Church, which supports schools, hospitals, clinics, missions projects, and emergency relief programs across America and around the world. Among the local ministries we support is the Center for United Methodist Aid to the Community (CUMAC) in Paterson.

Members of SEUMC are active in the Greater New Jersey Conference of the United Methodist Church, serving on committees and in leadership positions.

“The Circuit Rider”

“The Circuit Rider” is our monthly church newsletter, featuring news of upcoming events, pictures of past events, uplifting articles, birthdays, anniversaries, a prayer list, and a children’spage. Ask to be included on our mailing list (click here..)

Children are a vital part of life at SEUMC. During the worship service each Sunday they enjoy a special “Young Disciples’ Time.” Then they collect coins for missions from the congregation (the “Joyful Noise Collection”) before leaving for their Sunday School classes.

Children also serve as acolytes, and sing in church for special occasions.

Youth and Young Adults

SEUMC is blessed with active young mean and women who participate in all aspects of church life, including singing in the choir and leading worship.

United Methodist Women

The U.M.W. meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 11 a.m. to raise money for missions, and to provide our women with time for prayer, companionship, Bible study, and mutual support.

We worship each Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. We are blessed with a beautiful sanctuary that is always tastefully decorated. Our worship style is relaxed, informal and creative, with a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary Christian music. Worship services are led by our pastors and lay members working together to proclaim God’s word and celebrate God’s goodness.

After we worship each Sunday morning, everyone is invited downstairs for a full Sunday dinner featuring both American and international dishes. It’s a time to have fun, enjoy good food, and nurture friendships old and new. Church meetings are generally held after dinner.
